How To Set Up A Host Page Using Giveaway Tools

02/10/17 | Bloggers, Bloggers Tutorials

Each of the gift guides require you to set up your own Host page.  If you run giveaways you probably know how to do this, but if you don’t I am here to show you.  First I recommend using Giveaway Tools just because it is the easiest but you can use Rafflecopter, Gleem, and there may be others out there, I am going to show you with Giveaway Tools.

You will need to sign up, when you go into create a giveaway it will ask you for some information but it is free.

Just click on Add Giveaway and you will get this screen. Name it your blog name and the gift guide name, the beginning should be the first day of the gift guide, the ending should be the last day of the gift guide. Watch the beginning date you may need to put it to 11:59 pm the night before because it will only let you start at 1 am. For the sponsor and giveaway description put in NA.  Also click the button so it says just close the giveaway.

Then click the green button, Create Giveaway.

This is the next page you will see.  If you made a mistake you can edit anything on here.  This is just the top part of the page, now I will scroll down.

For the host page we will not need a prize so next we will add the entry types with the menu on the right side.

As you can see from the drop down menu there are lots of choices.  You may not show as many choices because I pay for a membership because I do run a lot of giveaways.  I am just going to show you a few because most are self-explanatory.

Please notice on the left side is always help if you need it.  If you pull up the wrong entry type, you will need to delete this entry type to get out of this to add another type.  Most you will need to add the full url – that means going to your links and letting it load completely and then taking the url and putting it into here.  I get wrong links every single day so don’t try to write this out.  You will need the https:www the entire url exactly or it will not accept the entry, and you will get frustrated.  Then put your blog name in and I normally choose to verify everything.  Then pick an amount of points.

This is from the “Make Your Own Entry” option.  This is for anything that is not listed such as Instagram, Bloglovin, retweets, etc.  I also use this for comments so that I can say comment on any review instead of a specific post, like the comment entry option does, and this one you can also have it as a daily entry.

To use this you need to put in what you want the contestants to do.  Then direct them where, that is why I put the word HERE.  Just highlight the word HERE and click “add link”.  You will get this screen.  Again be very careful with the link and grab the complete link, it will not give you an error, so the first few times I would double-check these types of entries.

Ok now we have added our 5 entries for our website to our widget now we need to put this on our blog.  I use wordpress so I am really not sure about blogger.  I grab the embed code.

I go back to an old post from my early days, I have a lot of old co host pages from 3 or more years ago.  I do not need them anymore so I try to reuse them.  Change the title, add the code into the text side, then grab the guide image.  Save and keep the short link to put onto the doc in the facebook group.

If you would like to test your links you can change the beginning date of the giveaway tools to be active and then preview your post.  Then click on each entry to make for sure they each work.  You can go back and change the beginning date or just leave it open but do not change the closing date.

Because you reused an old post you will get visitors to an older post that would have gone unused.

Any questions please leave a comment and I will answer it as soon as possible.
